California Dan Lynn is a seasoned songwriter and versatile performer whose musical journey began with bluegrass and grew to include reggae, punk, rock & roll, and blues, among other flavors. Honing his skills at various bluegrass jams in the hills and hollers of Berkeley and San Francisco, his first band, The Crooked Jades, emerged from a kitchen jam in Oakland, with Dan contributing bass and vocals on their early albums. He later co-founded The Blue Water Ramblers in Michigan, with whom his songwriting and guitar playing began to emerge. Moving to Marquette, Michigan, in 2025, Dan continues to develop his Michigan Mojo Music, a blend of bluegrass, punk, reggae, rock & roll, and blues influences. He is currently performing solo shows, playing acoustic and electric guitars as well as a few leads on the standup bass, and continuing to appear with the Blue Water Ramblers. He is seeking the personnel to assemble California Dan & the Savory Characters, a dream that began to take shape on festival stages in 2025.
